JUBA, 21 November 2011 – The President of the Republic H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed for the increment of the salaries of the police, prisons and fire brigades officers. This was announced by the minister for Interior Hon Alison Manani Magaya, shortly after meeting the President today Monday November 21st, 2011. Hon Magaya described the President’s direction as important and a big motivation to the police services.

Hon Magaya briefed the President on his ministry’s five-year action plan for transforming the police, the prisons, and the fire brigade officers into professional organized forces. He said the action plan was passed by the Council of Ministers last week. Hon Magaya explained that the plan came in the framework of implementing the national government policy of transforming all the organized forces into professional forces capable of providing good security services to the people of the new state of South Sudan.
Hon Magaya also disclosed that more than 900 police officers demobilized by the Khartoum Government and customs officers trained in Rajaf will take oath tomorrow on Tuesday 22nd November, 2011 before the President of the Republic H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit. He added that other officers of Customs, Prisons and Fire Brigade will be re-commissioned soon.

The minister also announced that Rajaf Police training Center on Thursday 24th, November, 2011 will witness the graduation of more than 1000 police recruits, selected from the ten state who have undergone a high quality training in policing services.
